How to do Moving Cupping with FasciaBuddy Squared Cups

This method utilizes the negative pressure in the square cup along with moving the cup in specific directions over an oiled region to break up adhesions and invigorate fascia.

This is Dermal Scraping, or Gua Sha, supercharged because of the dual action of the straight edge and vacuum.

Instructions:

  • 1
Determine the region where moving cupping will be applied.
  • 2
Apply massage oil to the skin in the determined area, use massage cream for very hair areas.
  • 3

Choose a cup that is suitably sized to move along the tissues in the intended area while engaging the largest zone possible.

  • 4

Once the desired internal pressure of the cup is achieved, attempt to move the cup in the desired direction. This can be in line with tissue fibers or cross fibering.

  • 5
Be mindful of the patient’s or your response. If when your initial attempt to move the cup causes you or the patient an uncomfortable sensation, toggle the valve to reduce the pressure in the cup or decompress the cup.
  • 6
To achieve a stronger fascial engagement, tilt the leading edge of the cup downward and lift the trailing edge of the cup slightly upwards while moving the cup. This specific action creates a 2-in-1 compressive action followed immediately by a decompression action on tissues that is highly beneficial to all layers of tissues.

Using the corner of the cup for deeper tissue engagement:

Turn the cup 45 degrees so that the corner now is leading. The rounded corner while moving can act as plow pushing downward and separating tissues. Adjust downward pressure to acceptable levels of the individual being cupped.
